THE VIKINGS DID IT.

Back in the fall of 2016 I had the extremely good fortune to be granted the opportunity to work for 5 weeks in Dublin, Ireland. On my very first day, while still bleary-eyed from the 10-hour flight, I was passively watching this new world roll by while on my way to my long-term accommodations. About halfway through this ride, I rested my eyes upon a truck full of viking helmet wearing tourists.  At this moment a combination of emotions washed over me. Awe, wonder, and perhaps a dash of second-hand embarrassment.

This last emotion is the one that caused me the most pause because I couldn't imagine any of them unwillingly placing themselves in this position. They all had to know what they were getting into and fully embraced it for what it was - an entirely unique experience that fully immersed them into the history of the city while adding a bit of quirky ridiculousness to the whole affair.  I believe this was the moment I realized I also needed to figure out how to make my time in Ireland as unique and special as possible but, in my own way.  I've since adopted this way of thinking beyond my travels and into my everyday life with the intent of this blog serving as an avenue for sharing my experiences, ideas, and more.
