Almost every June, close to the summer solstice, the palace is opened up to revelers looking to experience what it must have been like to attend one if its legendary festivals during its hedonistic heyday.
I say "almost" every June because the pandemic has created a bit of a hiccup in this annual tradition forcing the event to be postponed twice over the past two years until at least June 2022. Nevertheless, if you've been dreaming of experiencing Versailles the way it might have been in 1789, this is an event that may be worth keeping your eye on.
Unfortunately, due to the postponement, tickets are not yet on sale. But it may still be worth bookmarking the Château de Versailles Spectacles site and checking back every so often. In the meantime, if you'd like a sneak peek into one of their past events, check out the video below.

Her pictures of the event are particularly stunning but, on a more practical note, she also includes information about how to get there, where to find costumes, and what to bring.
